One of the shortcomings of the E85 Z4 is the lack of steering feel and precision. The E85 was the first BMW to use electric power steering, reducing weight and parasitic losses. The downside of the first generation electrically assisted steering was a loss of steering feedback. For this reason, BMW reverted to traditional hydraulic power steering in the Z4M. The steering feel of the Roadster S Supercharged has been greatly improved by fitting uprated suspension bushings, adding a strut tower bar and mounting Michelin Cup tyres. Steering precision was further enhanced by upgrading the front control arms to the control arms from the E46 performance package. The M-sport wishbones feature solid ball joints and are more beefy and durable than the standard failure prone rubber ball joints.
