Alpina has tuned the Roadster S with a lovely exhaust note. Some people even find it V8-ish. With just two exhaust tips it looked a bit too understated for my supercharged car. To enhance the looks we modified the carbon fibre diffuser and added two Alpina-style oval shaped exhaust tips to the right side of the car. After trying several different rear silencers, all of them way too loud, we decided to improve on the stock sound by removing some of the dampening material from the Alpina rear silencer. Because mounting a second silencer on the right side would require a relocation of the battery compartment, we routed the exhaust pipes on the right side to the existing rear silencer.

The modified exhaust is slightly louder than stock but still civilized at low engine speeds. Although it's a loud car by local standards, it makes no noise compared to the TVRs driven by my friends from Britain ;) . The power increase of the exhaust mods are unknown. Obviously the primary objective of this mod was to improve the aesthetics. Surely it hasn't done any harm since the stock engine was putting 320HP on the dyno at ESS Tuning - 20 horsepower above the rated power output. It's not uncommon for Alpina's to exceed the quoted power. The Roadster S usually dynoes at 310 to 315 HP.

With so much custom work the quad pipe exhaust was obviously an expensive modification, but it was well worth the money.
