Delivery to Norway

This is the photo gallery of the first trip to Norway in October 2008, when I dropped off the car at the ESS workshop in Aremark, Norway. The car would stay in Norway for six weeks while ESS was working on the physical fitment of the supercharger and engine tuning.

Because it was a 1250 kilometer drive to Norway I decided to spread the journey over two days and stay the night in Puttgarden, Germany, were a ferry line runs to Denmark. I left for Puttgarden on the evening of saturday October 4th. Thanks to the perfect weather conditions, I arrived in the hotel four hours later, averaging a speed of 146km/h. The next morning it was raining. After getting on the ferry I arrived in Denmark and started to drive all way up to Norway through Sweden, which wasn't all that exciting because of the bad weather and low speed limits of 110 or 120km/h. At 20.00h I reached the city of Halden. From there on it would be a 30 kilometer drive to Aremark.

On monday morning the weather had turned to bright blue skies. The Norwegian scenery was set in beautifully saturated autumn colours. I knew finding the ESS shop was going to be a bit challenging since the streets had no names in the rural countryside of Aremark. Instead the Norwegians use the name of the property as the address. Google Maps, TomTom and the BMW MK4 nav had no idea how to deal with that. I asked for instructions at a nearby petrol station and the guy behind the counter instantly recognized my intensions of visiting ESS Tuning. Following a map which I bought at the petrol station and with the help of Hans I eventually found the ESS site. An assembly worker showed me around the shop and I got to see all the beautiful pieces of the twinscrew kit. I was given the keys to a VW Caddy to drive back to Halden, were I took the train to Oslo airport. I catched the flight to Amsterdam and I arrived back home at 22.30h.
